Just had my second reverse motor go bad.
For a bike this expensive, this is a very cheap setup.

Spent two weeks on the road without a reverse (twice).
Then dealer makes me wait over two weeks for an appointment to test it (twice).
Then 3-4 more weeks for the replacement to arrive (twice).
Then the dealer wants me to wait another week for an appointment (twice).

Two reverses, and over 3 months down-time in the first year!

Real crappy deal for a bike that doesn't even ride like a Harley.
I'm sorry I didn't do a kit bike in the first place.

Sorry to hear all the bad news ! A three wheel kit bike doesn't ride like a Harley either (grin). Ya know I thought about doing that also to my Heritage soft tail. But a friend did his, and after about 11 months broke the frame tube just under the fuel tank. They said it was from the extra stress of the trike conversion.
After you get out of warranty put a kit on the trans for a manual shift reverse like it should have been in the first place. It costs about the same as one of the reverse motors ! I know I will !

I have a 5 year service contract that a kit will void.
Why should we have to pay for the reverse that Harley should have supplied in the first place?
I'm hearing reverse problems from all over the country.

Motors falling out...burning up if you backup more that 10-15 feet...SHAME ON HARLEY!!!
This is NOT what we were sold.

Think a recall is in order.

There are some folks on this board that would tell you to just take it back to the dealer and suck it up. That is what you would do if it was a Ford. You could always call customer service and get no where. Me, I would be very unhappy.

I'm starting to feel pretty lucky that mine only sticks in reverse after I start to take off forward...

I'm feeling good that mine has only fallen off once, 600 miles from home.

Hey, I'm a member of the reverse motor fall off club! Only happened once..so far. Had a replacement on the Trike in less than 2 weeks. Didn't really miss it when it was gone, was just careful where I parked. At $1380 for the motor, if it falls off after my warranty is up, I will not be replacing it.

Has anyone installed the Mechanical Reverse Gear from Motor Trike?
How well does it work? Anything bad about it?
It looks like a passenger could kick it easily. Is this a factor? How does it engage? A simple push or pull or do you have to also pull it outward then forward or back?
I'm just wondering if it's worth installing if problems arise with the electric motor since they're both about the same price.
