Thomkm...That is a good looking set-up with your trike/trailer. Looks like you have plenty of room, so I believe that when the time comes it will be a 7 x 12 for me.

Is your trailer the standard height or do you have the drop axle? No problems with the exhaust pipes dragging, right?

Good thing you are not in the Boone/Blowing Rock area now 'cause they are getting snow and it suppose to be spring here!

No drop axle and no dragging problem... with the tandem axle it pulls like a dream... we are suppose to get 3 -5 inches of snow tomorrow... Was hoping to head down to Kentucky for a few days of riding...but not till it warms up a little..

To answer your 1st question I measured my 2012 and it is right at 56" wide. As far as climbing over the rear fenders why in the world would you need to do that. Almost every enclosed I have seen has a front side door. Load it and walk along one side of the fairing to get out. Also the enclosed are no higher loading angles than an open trailer. In fact they can have a longer ramp than most open. I have a 6X10 that I use for my ATV and the drop down ramp would never let me load my Tri as the angle is to great. I'm going to sell it and get an enclosed. Probably the same make as I have now. For trailer height get one that has the torsion bar suspension instead of spring and the load height should be lower as they don't need the room for springs above the axles. That is one of the reasons I like the Alumna brand is the axles and it is all aluminum including the floor of it. No rot from having wood. There are not cheap but the one I have now is a great trailer.

This is IMO

I have an all aluminium R&R 7 1/2'x18' enclosed with V nose. More than large enough. Could have went with 7'x16' V and still had enogh room for two TGs.
If you install a lift kit on your TG from TGlide stuff or D&K you will eliminate the draging pipes almost everwhere.
Also if you get a short trailer in height the ramp will be shorter with a steeper loading angle so more prone to draging.

Thanks for posting the pixs. Question(s); Having never hauled a trike before, what/how is the proper way to tie the rear down? I am guessing the front would be same as two wheeler or not. I like the tie down rings in your trailer.

I use 1" ratchet tie downs (switching to 2" ) hooked through the rear wheel and hooked to the front tie down rings in the floor. My tie downs are rubber hooked so they don't screw up the rear wheels. I leave it in neutral and tighten it down with the ratchets. I don't tie down the rear end. I towed it over 2,500 miles last year with no problem.

I do check the ratchets at each gas stop, that is why I am switching to 2"... as the 1" would loosen up between gas stops.

There are 2 eye hooks on the bottom side ( rear ) of the trike that are used to tie it down. One on each side. Have used them several times.

I was going to use the rear eyelets, but found that I didn't need them to secure the trike. Not sure but I think the tandem axle keeps the trailer from bouncing and moving the trike...

I do hope that one day you don't get into an emergency situation that will wreck the trike inside the trailer. While it is so simple & easy to do it right before that happens.
But then again,,,,, I guess I put a greater value on my motorcycles than some do.
Just my 2 cents !!!!
