Thanks for the info. I hate to nit-pic but I guess the next question is; has anyone had their warranty voided for pulling a trailer by a dealer that they used when on a trip?
Thanks again
It depends on what your in for, horn no working should be no issue. Engine knocking, transmission not shifting properly, clutch slipping, lot of luck with any of those. Another issue is when the MoCo rep gets involved. There are some warranty jobs which require approval and at times a visit from the rep. Let them see the hitch and its game over.
I've had a hitch on several of my bikes...it's a shame that our Harley's will haul two people, averaging 250.00 pounds plus, but that same bike can't handle a 150 pound Bushtec trailer....sad indeed...
I feel it's just a easy out for MOCO to void your warranty....
On the other hand, my wife's Honda with a CSC trike kit and trailer hitch will be covered from the trike kit forward...and all of out GW two wheeler's never had an issues with a hitch installed...
Much thanks to all. I guess what it boils down to is a crap shoot. My local guy said no problem as long as they install. As for any trips, I guess I'll just hope the HD dealer in that area will be nice. BTW, I am thinking about getting a Bushtec Roadstar. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks again.
Mine won't install one. They pulled mine off my '10 without an issue. My guess is they sold the new buyer an extended warranty because I had just over 30k on it. I think if the hitch is hidden on most routine service calls, no problem. Now, try to explain that you don't have a hitch when they pick you up after a breakdown with a camper or trailer sitting on the side of the road next to you That's a toughie!
96cc aint enough motor to pull that big ride is it?
Jim, I understand. It was more than enough. I am not a hot rod guy but I do run down the road. Lots of wide open straight roads around here and most speed limits are 75 mph. Not like where I grew up in E TN, Madisonville.

I have a Bushtec Roadstar, great trailer. My 2nd Bushtec...never had any problems or issues...

Seems to me they would void your warranty for not using HD oil, for non-Dunlop tires, just about anything they could dream up. Google "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" for something reading. They can't just void your warranty, they have to prove it.
