Default Quick exhaust question

I have been trolling around the various sites reading through posts about exhausts...but I have a very simple question that no one has really answered...

What options do I have to change the sound of my DX without having to re-flash the ECU? I see people talk about drilling holes, but I haven't seen anything with a DX. I have also heard about slip-ons, but where would I find such things (in black)and do they really not require a re-flash of the ECU?

Basically, I like the look of the stock exhaust...the bike makes plenty of power as is...I just would like a bit more rumble, nothing obnoxious. The more simple the solutionthe better for me.

Thanks to all!!!!

A Revolution is a Revolution is a Revolution. It doesn't matter if it's on a A, B, D, DX, or R, it's all the same.Drilling holes is your cheapest option, especially if you want to keep the stock exhaust.

Thanks. I certianly understand its all the same engine...I just haven't heard of anyone drilling into the DX exhasut. I'm assuming they are a bit different than the other VRSC stock exhaust pipes. If anyone has done it, some advice would be appreciated. I think I saw a link to step by step instructions on a Stock VRSCA exhaust...I wonder if it will much different for a Stock DX's exhaust.

Thanks again.

Drilling the exhaust leans out the fuel mixture and will give you a tinny sounding exhaust too.It reduces the back pressure and that in turn will effect the low end torque.Best bet is to get some slipons and do it right so the mixture isn't affected as much. You may also want to add a fuel enrichment device to the bike because they run lean in stock trim. The fuel enrichment will also make the bike run better and cooler even with the stock setup.

I wouldn't recommend drilling the exhaust. I hear of too many stories where sound and performance is compromised. Consider these new slip-ons from Supertrapp. They ship at the end of this month. The exhaust is tunable via endcap discs without modifying the FI/ECU. It offers the look (I believe) you are looking for. Their dynos show excellent performance. While not heard yet, myguess is it will be sweet. I have them on order. But to be sure, I'm finding the stock exhaust quite nice (Looks, performance, sound), and may end up keeping them on.
