Few V-Rod owners, compared to other Harley families, and there's a seperate forum just for V-Rod owners somewhere out there. Don't remember the name. Might be vrodforums.com or something.
I think that you hit the nail on the head with that one. Where I live, I haven't seen a v-rod. I know that some like them, but I just haven't seen one on the road.
Also remember... it is essentially one model until very recently. It is like having a topic forum for just the Dyna Low Rider. Wouldn't see much traffic there either. Last report I saw had it as the #6 selling model out of 28 or so. It is going to continue to climb. Internationally, it is the #1 selling Harley.
BTW, as noted above, the v-rodforums.com web site is huge. I've even seen posts from Willie G. there. Other Milwaukee suits lurk. This weekend there's a huge V-Rod rally near Kansas City.
I saw a new VRod walking up Lexington Avenue in NYC today (on my way from Grand Central to the office). I heard it all th way down 48th street, so I stopped and waited because it sounded like a Harley. Nice looking bike...looked fast as hell. Not really my style - but I would love to test ride one...nice and low-slung lines. The dude took off like a bat on fire when the light turned green - awesome sounding bike...
Lots of V-Rods in my area (Milwaukee) compared to some others I suppose. They're Harley's effort to attract a younger customer but they are pretty expensive for that demographic. If they make a V-Rod touring bike maybe they'll collect some of the older riders.
Note: Local dealer has two orange and black '04 V-Rods that he hasn't been able to sell. They put them on clearance this past Saturday for $10, 919...yes, you read that correctly---$7,000 under MSRP!!!!
