vrod is not a sportbike like some people seem to see it as, its a power cruiser and a good one. not many cruisers can do an 11 second quarter mile. ive read road reviews where the testers liked the night rod over the victorys but my question is how does it stack up against other top power cruisers such as the yamaha vmax or triumph rocket? i dont think it should be compared to sportbikes as thats a different category. vrod falls into the power cruiser category and im sure its near the top of the list.
The V-Max will out-do the V-Rod in the quarter mile, but who's racing simply a quarter mile. More importantly the V-Rod will outrun the Max in a roll-on start.
I have not heard anything about the Rocket, but as big and cumbersome as that bike is I doubt it would outrun the V-Rod in every catagory.
Besides, both the other bike cannot begin to compare to the V-Rod in style.
Easy is right about the v-max. The rocket 3 is very close in the 1/4 mile. I almost bought a Rocket 3 but liked the nimbleness of the V-rod. 2300cc's is great but itweighs more than a mother in-law There has been numerous shoot-outs in the Magizines about the power crusiers . The V-rod wins every time. Suzuki has even built a bike to compete with the V-rod calledan m109. It too is fast but is one heavy bitch. (ugly too). hands down the Rod is the baddest power crusier. The V-max is listed as a standard on most buyers guides.
Do believe most do not see the V-Rod as a sportbike but as a power cruiser.
I'm one who always questioned the V-Max as a cruiser. Seems more like a fast naked/standard. Just don't see anyone "cruising" around on it. But it is fast.
A glance at the MCN specs for the power cruisers, the ones noted above and including the VTX, Mean Streak, Warrior, show the V-Rod to be the top performing, or very near the top in most measures... with the M109R and Rocket III in the mix. As triple buzz notes, have yet to come across a review comparison/shootout where the V-Rod did not win, with handling, refinement, appearance, quality of workmanship, routinely accorded to the V-Rod.
I dont know a whole of stats on any of them. Im stuck in the big sand box but, whatever you have or are getting Ill go riding with you. See you all on the road when I go on R&R.
I can take on the Yamaha on real street conditions anytime. Damn I once rode against a TDM 900. Green light, started riding not giving a **** about anything (started fast though) when I look on my left and see a Yamaha lifting the front wheel on gear shifts. At the time I couldn t go over 5000rpm but still he couldn t keep up. Probably couldn t believe his luck.
A 900 Yamaha getting its *** served by a Harley? Yes indeed. I will eventually have evidence on camera that this bike is faster, even faster than street bikes. Yeah, I dare say that. Up to 140-160km/h at least. Thats when you see street bikes taking off fast as ****. Till then, they get to stay behind.
The way I see it, the vrod IS thebest power cruiser out there. The only reason there may be faster bikes is theyhave to cheat with 2 liter displacement bikesto beat it. The Revolution is a superior design. The vrod is kicking *** outside its league. Other comparisons done on various bikes are done with similar displacements. 600cc, liter bikes, etc. The vrod is a heavy-weight contender competing in the ultra-heavyweight division. Imagine if they made a 1800cc vrod to go against a 1800vtx which is already being smoked by a 1130cc bike.
according to the figures i got from motorcycle cruiser the vrod has less torque but more hp than the honda 1800vtx. the vrod has a better quarter mile time. i wonder how it stacks up against the triumph tiger which is also a great sporty cruiser
The Triumph Tiger 1050 is reviewed in a recent Motorcycle Consumer News article, and the performance specs are on par with the V-Rod... 1/4 mile times in the 11sec range, top end in the 130'smph. The Tiger is a sweet bike, but everyone is classifiying it as a sport tourer, not asa power cruiser.
for 2008 kawasaki is coming out with a power cruiser that will blow everyone else away. concours14. cruiser with the zx14 engine. god only knows how the rod will stack up against that.
