I'm new to the forum and a new Harley owner as of yesterday. I bought a used 2003 V-Rod and the ride home was a blast. It's been well taken care of and has some great upgrades. The brake light is on any time the key is on - could you tell me where the switches are to fix this? I've searched the foum, but didn't find anything specific to the V-Rod and most seem to be related to the changing of the switch housings which hasn't been done.
The rear stop light switch is located on the right side on the lower part of the main frame right behind the engine where the frame bends to start moving up towards the seat. I'm not sure about the front.
This may be an indication of another problem. I would check/service the entire system, including changing the fluid, rather than assuming it is just the switch thatwill take care of the problem. Even if it is just the switch you will know that the brakes will work like they should. Brakes can be pretty important.
