Default Part lead time?

Does anyone have experience with waiting for V-rod aluminum body pieces?

My poor dad had his bike hit by a "brilliant" deputy sheriff trying to do a wheelie on his Buell at a bike night way back in August '07. That dumba$$ took out a Road King, and two Soft Tails too. Anyways, the V-rod needed new fork sliders, a new frame, mufflers and some other small pieces which came rather quickly. The bike is still in the shop waiting for an airbox cover, it should not take this long for an airbox cover! He missed out on all the nice fall riding weather!

He should buy a replacement on eBay, use it til his comes in, and then resell the one he bought on eBay to recover his money. Then he wouldn't miss any riding.

Where are you located? I have spare off an SE. It's a bit gaudy and has a dent in it. I could loan it out.

I have seen them cheap on e bay, for that matter he could get a K&N and run it without the cover, may not look the best, but it sure gets people wondering how the bikes running without a gas tank. There are also many aftermarket options.

I've been needing parts that have been on backorder for well over a month...

They're sayin' I'll probably get my ride back next week, but who knows...

I never thought of just running without it. We are going to the dealer this weekend. I think maybe we should just get the bike and have them get us the airbox cover if it ever comes in.

I am in NW Ohio, it's not like it's riding weather anyways.
