Default OT: Crossbones

Almost bought the Crossboneslast week when I went to HD (I gotta stop doing that I guess). Told the sales guys that I had a Vrod and they looked at me like I was an idiot! F--- 'em! Glad I didn't buy as impulse buying can kill ya and I never buy new...almost made an exception to these rules! But, that bike was talking to me that's for sure! I like the look but the rear Bob fender and the silly *** plastic under the seat has got to go. All in all though...cool looking bike. Just couldn't part with the big V...altho I probably was gonna keep it anyway.

I also looked at the Xbones, I really like the look. I do think it would really look better with a different seat.

Pictures do this bike absolutey no justice. Altho I was merely "curious" from the pics...when I saw it was when I actually wanted it...bad. Ya gotta go at least see it (or maybe ya shouldn't?). The nice thing about it is if you go black as pictured above...chrome mods will take away from the nostalgic lookIMHO so, I wouldn't waste a lot of money ruining the look with chromeso, one can save a few bucks. I would however have the plastic under the seat leather covered.

I had my credit card out of my wallet ready to go but then I remembered the impulse buying thing and then we all went to lunch then rode home. My buds were pushing me to get it. Came home, told the wife I'm selling the Vette and gonna buy the Xbones but just couldn't do that either as I certainly was not gonna sell the rod...no way...no how. So, eventually and ever so slowly...I talked myself out of buying the bike. But, one never knows....!

My dealer has one and like you mentioned the cheap looking plastic under the seat has to go. Plus for me I never liked the springer front end, so I would never own one. Add to that the limited output of the anemic motor in that bike and I could never find myself being happy with it.

The biggest problem with owning a V-rod is that everything else is a let down. I rode a friend's Jixer and felt like I needed a push-start to get off the line. I took an M-109 out during AZ Bike Week last year and felt like I was maneuvering a battle ship. I guess I'll keep what I got until it's time for a geezer-glide. By then the V-bagger should be well established.
