Default Gas Guage

Is anybody else having a gas guage prob? Mine goes to empty at about 30 miles after I fill it.

Damn your getting pretty shitty mileage!

Seriously I'd have it checked by the dealer. Been a lot of comments about gas gauges not being accurate. But never anything that off.

My wife owns an 04 VRod and she has periodic problems with the gas gauge. After she fills it sometimes will show only 1/4 way full. I've talked to a tech and he suggested that maybe the float is sticking. But talking to other Vrodders it seems to be a common problem. Talk to your local tech or as my wife suggest, after each refill reset your trip odometer and fill up after 100 miles. I got a chance to talk to Karen Davidson, Willie G's daughter who also owns a Vrod, and she has the same problem. Go figure....

Thanks for the responses everybody. I usually reset the damn thing every time I fill up. The dealer tried to fix it but it just did the same thing quickly after. Makes me feel good that Karens does the same. Ya think she would have some pull around there. LOL

I bought V-Rod#656 when they first came out in 2002. My guage said half full when it was empty, nice surprise! Rather than wait for harley to fix it I spun the top access cover off the tank and found the fuel line was routed right next to the guage float, thus interfering with its travel. I simply re-routed the hose around the back of the guage. total time for a reliable guage about 1 hour. Sombody is sleeping at quality control.
