Night Rod Special
I can't believe there isn't more talk about this model in this section. WOW! I almost bought a SE VROD last October but fell in love with the denim bob (plus I still needed the loud rumble of the 88). But, damn, now that I see the NR Special I wish I could afford two. I've always loved the VROD since the beginning but this one takes it hands down. Congrats to all you future NR Special owners.
The problem with the AW and DX is that they still retain the same 1130cc/69 cid engine that the '06 A, D, and R came with, but now have a 240 tire on the rear. The advantage with a 240 tire is only looks. The bike will not perform as well as my VRSCA because it retains the engine but has to deal with more rolling resistance and more weight to move, as well as a more difficult time rolling through corners. For Harley's "Performance Model", I think the addition of the 240 tire was a mistake. Ever see a crotch rocket with a tire over 200 stock? An SE would have been a better choice, or the new '07 VRSCX because they both have the more powerful 1250cc/72 cid engine, but the VRSCDX is a bad choice, performance wise, in my opinion.
The other reason that "there isn't more talk about this model in this section" is because it seems that most of the time I am the only member regularly viewing or posting to this section.

Performance aside, it is a bad *** looking rod. I assumed the 2nd reason of yours is why I haven't read much about the new rod. I guess this forum is air cooled dominated? Irregardless, I love the new NR S and my wife was caught by it. She's up my *** to to the ungodly act of adding a pass seat to my bob. Maybe this is the angle I can use to get the new special. "Baby, if you let me get this to then I can give you rides!"

Let me know if it works. I would love to have more company it this section. I know there are others here, but not many and not regularly. I like the look too, probably more than the others, but I was speaking on a performance aspect and I doubt I will trade my '06 for a '07. I would love to have the 5 gallon tank though.

RE: Night Rod Special
Haven't seen one yet in person. I'm not getting rid of the bob but I would like a 2nd scoot. I just broke the news to my wife that we can't ride 2-up until I get a new bike with 2 seats. She's trying her hardest to get me to defile my bob with a 2-up seat. Never!
Yeah I'm coming over from sport bikes as well, but even then I've always been a lover of everything two-wheeled, and I grew up on my dad's harley, so when I saw the Night Rod Special, I knew I needed it. The styling is exactly what I planned on doing to a used V-Rod if I bought one, only with stuff I couldn't afford (240 rear, black engine, etc).
It is by far the most attractive VRod to me. Don't much care for the 240, and rather have the 5 gal tank. The extra cubes in the other model is interesting, but not enough to matter to me. Otherwise I'd be trading 'Bob for and 07.
