Question....I recently wrecked a Honda ST1300, that was my daily rider/commuting bike. Had it outfitted with 2 sets of driving lights, heated seat, plus outputs for heated gear. Am seriously looking into a Road Rod converted Vrod. What is the alternator output? Any problems adding this type of electrical load? I also have an Evo FLHR, 38 amp alternator, which supports the heated gear on the road, but at idle I sometimes have to cut off the spotlights.
The ST has a 740 watt alternator, very nice.
I do not know the answer myself but have you tried posting it up at 1130cc.com? there is plenty of knowledge over there specifically about the vrods I'm sure somebody over there knows the answer. Besides the Road Rod conversion already has heated grips.
As i remember it they said the output at idle was 22 amps. With everything on at the same time including both fans 4ways/directionals and brake lights the output was just shy of the idle output, enough to keep the battery charged. Unlikely all of that would be on at the same time at idle. Output above 3500 rpm i believe was 38 amps.
