Default basic v-rod questions

I am considering purchasing a v-rod for my second bike. Only thing is I know nothing about them. Can anyone tell me how reliable are they? Are they expensive to fix?

Hey. I've got an '09 VRSCAW. My third HD bike. I had the same questions before I bought. I spoke with a couple of service techs to get their opinion. Answers were all the same...best bike MoCo makes from a tech/service point of view (not trying to start a debate...just telling you what I was told). Said the only mechanical issues seen were rider caused...no mechanical failures. You get a lot of hp. My V is much different than my Softail or EG. It doesn't really open up on the RPM band till you get it past 5k...it red lines at 9k. It will go when you want it to go. The ride isn't as bad/rough as I thought it would be. The 240 tire and suspension do their job. As far as expense, scheduled service is cheaper on my V rod than other bikes. Hope that helps.

Great 2nd bike or 1st bike for that matter. over 200 mile ride, I jump on the Ultra, fun, put a grin on your face, VSCDX...
Had the below bike for 2.5 years, nothing has broke, never been to the dealer for any issue. Great bike.

The V-Rod was one of the best bikes I owned. I had an 2005 and a 2008. I enjoyed the 2005, had the smaller engine and rear tire. Got great gas mileage but the mileage range was an issue. I wish I would have kept it.

We got our Nov 11, 2006. Coming up on 26,000 miles. Several V-rodders have over 100,000 miles. Just normal maintenance.
OK, they do seem to use up rear tires.
We also just upgraded to Arnotts air ride. Probably half the mileage on our bike is riding double. The air ride pays off here.
