To the point has anyone had experience with autotuners ? Have a '11 vrod muscle and put some V & H slip ons on but as saving grow again thinking of upgraded airfilter and add tuner.local HD shop stocks and sells the screaming eagle supertuner they wanna sell my way for $550 then some dynowork i believe. Being outta town a bit and kinda a DIY kinda guy is it possible to save a few bucks here and put a autotuner in that wont trash the warranty or bike and adjust to general everyday city riding as well. Like to put some throttle into it on back hiways but dont want to be tuned track for everyday use.If so can you recommend a type/brand.Going north for summer to canada anyone ever deal with tuners up there. If auto tuner isnt the recommended way please recommend a "non- auto" tuner please.
A lot of people have done well with the ThunderMax, a few have never been able to get it to work right. The VRFID is also supposed to be an excellent auto tuner. Both of those units completely replace the stock ECM. The PC-V with auto tune is probably the best piggyback device. Dynojet also makes the Powervision, it's world class cool and seems to work well from the 3 or 4 people I know of that use it.
With any of the autoyune units, you'll probably have to pull the head pipes and have the O2 sensor bungs bent slightly. The wide band o2 sensors are taller than stock and will rub on the engine case.
