Default Polished aloy

I have developed a problem with the polished alloy components. It’s looking like you have not wiped the rain off and its dried leaving a dirty water mark and looks like its pitted the protective coating. Like most Harley owners, I take great pride in my bike and like it to sparkle. The Bike is only used on weekends, it is garaged and covered and normally not taken out on rainy days. The alloy handle bars and surrounds wheels and engine covers are also showing signs of deterioration. I only use soft cloths and mild car wash (mequiars) on the bike regularly and always dry it off. I have tried a cotton wool type metal polish only and not an abrasive type. Nevertheless, the marks will not come off. I think its more in the lacquer and wonder if this could be faulty. I would hate to think that should I leave this it will result in irreversible damage to the alloy finishes.

polished aluminum parts have a clear coat of paint on to protect them,it only lasts a little while.once it starts to flake, discolor, corrode, there isn't much to do to fix it, you will need to strip the clear coat and keep up the polishing..you could have it recleared but it will come back again
