Wife is starting a motorcycle tour business using the '09 Muscle . . . dealership has quoted us a price of $2200-2500 for five-year extended warranty (original warranty has lapsed). Any common issues that you've seen on the V-Rod that would justify the purchase of a new extended warranty? We've had no problems with the bike yet (knocking on wood!). The bike kicks *** - need I say more??
Depends on how much use the bike and how long plan to keep it .. My Extended Warranty has already paid for itself .. One Serious issue can cost as much or more as the ESP cost .. I have close to 60K on the Ultra now and still have close to 3 years left on the ESP and anything used at all will be free now as already paid for itself .. If a good wrench with the tools and time, save the money and do it yourself
Check out the high mile V Rods on www.1130cc.com - very few problems - but check it out for yourself....there are some 70-100k v's over there
As for your price $2200 sounds high to me...I just bought a 2009 VRSCAW with 12k miles on it - I put a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty on it and it was about $1500.00 with a 20% discount on the price.
i would agree that sounds high. and if you have any mechanical cense you can do most of the stuff your self with the manaul and 1130 forum. i got the two year extended and in the 4 year that i beat on my bike the only things that went wrong were the rear brake light switch X3 - 20 dollars 1/2 hour labor, fuel gauge sending unit X2(decided not to replace it again off the warranty just watch the milage - 85 dollars and 1 hour labor), rear breather tubes X1(only cost 14 dollars and it take ten minutes to replace)
That price is too high for sure I got my 09 ith 8,500 miles V & H 2-1 competition pipe, K & N filter and SE tuned for $10,000 out the door. If you got basic wrenching skills then get a service book. Best $50 you will spend
