anyone out there that has made this move, been thinking about either going to a vrod or a bmw r1200r, rideing a 2008 dyna superglide now and like the way it handles, not interested in going to a bagger looking for something lighter and smaller, like the sportster but to small

Check out www.1130cc.com there are plenty of guys over there that swithched to VRod's from various HD model's
I switched from a Road King to a VRod
The VRod is a much larger bike overall than a Sportster
I started on a Sporty, and I've had 2 dynas, 2 softails (fatboy and Duece)
and 2 V Rods. My last Dyna 2010 and now I have a Muscle.
The VRods are not only much smoother and faster, but the new Muscle handles better (quicker side to side than a Dyna) and is much more comfortable for longer rides. The other big advantage of a V Rod over a Dyna is BRAKES. Dual front "Brembo" vs. stock Dyna is no contest!!
I went from my first V Rod to a Kawaski C14 concours (Sport touring) back to my Dyna Superglide custom. As I concidered my next bike, I looked at BMW and Moto Guzzi Grisio. I went to the motorcycle show and saw a V Rod again. After tinking about the V Rod ride vs. the other two (BMW and Guzzi)
as well as dealer network, I'm very happy to be back on the V Rod!!!
