Default Night Rod Owners! Help!

I'm looking to purchase a Night Rod for my husband for his birthday in April and am trying to get as much information as I can before purchasing from a local dealer.

Are the handlebars the widest point of the bike? If so, what is the width, tip-to-tip? We do not have a garage, but we do have a walk-in basement that we can store it in over night and in the off-season. I want to make sure it will fit through the doorway.

Sorry for such a "stupid" post. My husband has wanted a bike since I made him sell his last one almost 9 years ago, and I'd really love to surprise him!

Just did a quick google search. New models are 35" wide...

PS-

You're a keeper!

If the width is a problem, an aftermarket set can always be installed that fits. Here is a link for a place that has several options...

I have no link to them. I just found them to have an insane selection of v-rod mods.

Handlebars are widest point. You can get a V-Rod through a 30" doorway no problem though. You don't have to ride straight through the doorway with the handlebars at right angles to the motorcycle... you can **** them from side to side and even lean the bike putting one handlebar across the threshold and then the other. I haven't tried a 28" bathroom door but I am sure I could swing that too. I would like to take a shower while sitting on her....er ah... my V-Rod ("Loretta") that is...

Oh yeah.... my advice is: Avoid buying a used bike that doesn't have a good maintenance record with it (showing it got TLC) otherwise you may buy something that has been "raced." If you buy used have them show you that there are no diagnostics codes that come up on the instrumentation (or get a warranty). You could take it home and find all kinds of problems with it come up in the onboard diagnostics scanner and not be under warranty to fix them!

Do not buy a harley davitson, buy 2 19 months ago and have had nine warranty claims and spend more time in the shop than on the road, one of them is a VRSC Night Rod and initially not wanted RECEIVE and had to repair on my own.

I know the feeling my wife bought me a Fatboy for Fathers Day last year. Definitely you are a keeper.
Related to the bike like JayDrod said If used check for maintenance records and/or get an extended warranty, avoid buy from a 3rd party, try to buy either used or new from your local HD dealer. Again make sure it has a Warranty.

I would recommend the warranty. Fyi I just bought a 2013 vrod muscle and I got the warranty negotiated from $2,500 to $1,421 for a 6 year hd warranty bumper to bumper unlimited miles. Good piece of mind and 1st repair, warranty pays for itself.
