Is it true the VROD engine was designed by Porsche?

Discovery channel did a whole show on the V-Rod and how it came about. Went into a lot of detail on what Porsche did for them. It was really interesting you could probably buy the DVD on Amazon or something.
After watching that show and what they did to that bike I bet the V-Rod is one of the best built bikes on the road. It was amazing the tests and beating they put the motor and bike through.
