2007 HD overheating

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Just got a new 2007 SE Road King and noticed the high heat from the motor. Surfing the net I noticed others commenting and I would like to get advise on how to prevent any potential problems on a new bike.

With an air cooled engine they will run hot . . . very hot . . . typcially my 06 Fatboy runs around 230-240F. You will find alot of info on the forum about most bikes running hot. Eventually (5K miles) you can try a synthetic oil ( the sythetic may drop the temp by 10 or 15 degrees or you can get an after market oil cooler). I would not worry too much about it, since the bike is also equipped with a heat management system and if the motor gets too hot the system will kick in (basically it shuts the bike down) to prevent any damage. It is a little scary the first time that this happens!Hope this helps a little
