I have been lurking for a while, then got registered and racked up a few post.
I guess I should officially check in and say “Hi”.
I’m in my mid forties and have not ridden since my first born turned 3 or 4. He is now 25. That’s when a couple of close calls made me decide to sell the bike until my kids graduated H.S.. I can see by reading the post here, I am not alone in my return to riding. Figured a refresher could come in handy. So, I will be taking a rider course in the spring.
My youngest graduated last year and I felt now was a good time to act on a very-long-dream-of-owning-a-Harley. I have been dropping hints to the wife for two years. She seen the writing on the wall and gave me the blessing. So I have obsessed this last year reading, comparing, and analyzing exactly what I want. I narrowed it down between an Ultra and a Road Glide, finally settling on an Ultra. I plan on placing the order by the end of December.
I grew up riding. Bought my first bike when I was 12 - a Bridgestone 90. I have rode a variety of bikes but never owned a Harley.
I got my old leather riding jacket out the other day. Man did it ever shrink while in storage!! I will be ordering a bike and I want to fit into this jacket by the time the bike gets here. Anyone own a leather stretcher?? They're still some remains of bug splats and it reminded me why I want a dresser.
I was not going to post this introduction until I had the bike ordered. But, I figured I could get some tips and advise on buying from some of you here. I’m all ears.
Glad to have another member. You'll like this place alot. I pondered for months (after I got my blessing) on which harley to buy. Decided on a road king classic, set in stone, no turning back. Came home with a wide glide, lol. I guess that old school chopper was the real me. Haven't regreted it one bit. Good luck with your purchase, just can't go wrong with an Ultra.
