I've been riding for about a decade, all on metrics of various kinds (with the exception of my first bike which was a buell blast), so this is my first HD. Looking forward to falling down the rabbit hole of all things Harley.

Sincerely,
Mitch from Indianapolis

Welcome from Colorado.....Enjoy the new ride. It is a beauty

Welcome from Spartan Country, Michigan!
I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.
Good Luck!!

Honestly, even though I am usually an extensive modifier of my machines, I don't foresee myself changing too much about this bike. The previous owner's changes are very close to what I would have done, so there isn't much to tweak. I already yanked off the buckhorn bars to replace with the stock mini-apes, and will be ditching the crash bar for aesthetic reasons (and because it gets in the way of my boot when shifting and braking. Other than that it's going to stay fairly stock. Already upgraded with the exact exhaust I would have bought.

The first thing I will be doing is the full 20,000 mile service. It's at 18k at the moment.

Couldn't agree more. I also have a 1994 Honda Magna. It's a fun bike but doesn't have the same relaxed torque curve and weight (stability at speed) that this softail does. I bought it specifically for this reason.

FANTASTIC and WELCOME to HDF my friend.@Msmith68W
I drove 9 hours round trip to get this bike because I think this paint combination is literally the more beautiful bike Harley has ever built. Just gorgeous. A heritage with the same scheme and whitewall tires is a close second.

Way ahead of you. I've got the service manual in paper and digital form, and the previous owner gave me an entire folder full of all the paperwork for every modification, service, etc.

I was thinking the same thing, zero'd the odometer on the first fill up today.

Hello and welcome to the HD Forums from West Virginia (USA). Glad you have joined us all here. Great looking bike. Thanks for your service to this great nation Sir. Funny when I look at those pictures I do believe several of those places look very familiar to me. Could it be the 2nd picture is in Pomeroy, Ohio. And the 3rd is in between New Haven, WV. and Hartford, WV. Reason being, I have personally ridden those routes many times following the Ohio River. A couple of my riding brothers live down that way. Enjoy your new bike !!!!!!
