Hello from FL
Just joined the forum but have been riding and tinkering for a lot of years. Actually just about thirty years I guess. Had a lot of bikes in that time, still own a bunch.
Started with a Kawasaki KZ440 as a teenager, then upgraded to an 883 sporty. Later picked up a Dyna T-sport. Still regret selling that one.
I’ve still got an old pan head chopper I’ve had for twenty years. It’s always in various states of running.
The current lineup is a variety of projects. 77 fxe which is getting a freshen up but is a running bike that just suffered from shoddy repairs and delayed maintenance. An 86 FXWG which is going through a motor rebuild for the same reasons, and an ‘82 fxr roller that I’m going to try and shoehorn an evo I have into since the shovel that was in it is long gone.
I’ve also got a Ducati 999 for when I feel like breaking the sound barrier, and a few British bikes for when I feel like breaking down somewhere. A 68 bsa lightning that’s done kind of flat tracker style, a triumph t100 with a rebuilt motor that’s in process of a bobber build, and a 71 bsa thunderbolt that’s currently non running in need of a total restoration.
I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.
Good Luck!!
Just in case you have not done this.
