I have been lurking for a few days and decided to join up. Just want to say hi.
I am 58 years old, been riding since 1969. My very first bike was an HD 350 Sprint SS, never will forget that bike.
I had to take an early retirement due to a heart condition and surgery, if I can scrape up the coins, I am going to do the splurge and get a new Softtail sometime between now and the end of Jan. probably after the holidays. It has been a few years since I sold my last bike, thought I was getting to old, but that old itch is back.
Well, I won't waste to much of your time, just saying hello.
Welcome from Minnesota ----Glad you joined us,and make sure you jump in as often as you like.Let us know when you get your softail. In the mean time we'll keep you company.
Springer, I am torn between the Heritage Classic and the Deluxe. I love the looks of the Deluxe, with the blue and white paint job. But the Classic comes with bags, backrest and windshield for like $400.00 more.
My local dealer has both already accessorized, sitting next to each other, and I really am torn between them.
The Deluxe is a little ahead right now, as the dealer has bags, windshield and engine guards on it also. But, at a little higher price.
Big South Texas Welcome!! Indiana, huh... Do you know Heather? Anyway, welcome to the forums, it is a great site with a bunch of good folks. I would recommend that you take a MSF course between now and when you get your bike... You are never to old and I took it after almost 30 years of riding and found out I was doing a lot of things not quite right....
I understand your position about having to choose between the 2 bikes. When I went looking for a Harley, I only had one in mind. I wanted a Springer and that is what I got. I have seen other bikes that I like, but I liked the looks of the springer front end. If you like the Deluxe the best, would the dealer be willing to negotiate with you on the price or maybe throw something in to sweetin the pot a little? Just curious
The dealer is willing to sweetin the deal on the Deluxe, they said would throw in a backrest and rear footboards. Both bikes are loaded with accessories, just about any I would want.
There is about $1500.00 difference in price, the Deluxe being higher, because of more accessories that are standard on the Classic.
