Welcome to the forum. I tested your statement on the way home from work. I installed the J&M shorties about a month ago. I have to say up front that I have no idea whether or not my AM/FM reception is affected since I listen to mp3 CD or XM sat radio on the road. My CB range is exactly the same before and after the install.
Anyway, on the way home from work I turned on the weather band as I haven't even used it since I put the J&M's on. I picked up one of the channels very clearly but I do remember picking up more than one before so maybe the reception and range is effected with the J&M's. I suppose in an area with less coverage and only one weak signal, it could act like the signal is gone.
