I have an 07 FLHX with a horrible vibration problem. After about 12,000 miles, the bike started "falling apart". It has broken several sets of fairing brackets, several heat shield brackets from the exhaust and has had 4 motor mounts installed. The Harley dealership measured the flywheels and said that everything is within specs, but the vibration is excessive. At 70 mph, the bike feels like it is going to come apart. At first the dealership wouldn't let me have it back, said it was unsafe, but now that they have returned it to me, in the same condition (unsafe?), they said tech services deems the bike okay. I have taken it to another dealership for a second opinion. Harley has a block on it because of the V & H pipes (dealer purchased and installed), said this voids that warranty and they will not do anything for me. No motor work has been done, the bike has exhaust, breather, race tuner and some misc. chrome. Warranty is voided. Nice support i'm getting from them. Any ideas?
Definitely not normal! The service techs should ride it out on the highway and not just around the block. Try the Touring section. Another option is to contact the regional service rep. Good luck.
Thanks for the encouragement guys! I am sorely disappointed in the way HD (corporate-tech services) is handling my claim. The dealer is in agreement with me about the excessive vibration but HD says the warranty has been voided because of the V&H pipes. Thats the biggest crock i've heard. The dealer obviously has to be compensated for his time, labor and parts. HD pretty much told us that we are on our own. I understand they just laid off 3500 employees and sales are down but I have one of their bike that is unsafe and I cannot ride it. How can I fight a huge company like that? V&H has declined to comment. I may just have to eat the loss and move on down the line.
