Howdy
Used to ride a Triumph, aHonda, and a Kawi, but haven't ridden in years, but I've always liked, and wanted, a Sportster; I just like their look and proportions.My brother-in-law tho, rides all the time, street and dirt. I mentioned to him that, since my kids are now grown, that I was thinking of starting to ride again but needed something to practice for my M1 endorsement. He said he had something, a '79 Yamaha 500 SR. He has several bikes and his current street steed is a BMW 1200 Dual Sport, a truly awesome machine. I rode that Yami around for a weekendand the hook was firmly set! I took my written test, got my permit, andon the next weekend we tooka ride up to Lake Arrowhead and thru the twisties and the next day headed forNewcombs Ranch, here in So. Cal. On the second weekend, he let me ride his BMW down the mountain, twice! All the time, I've been poring over the online classifieds and wouldn't you know it, found the perfect bike for me only blocks from my house! I pick it up tomorrow!! I'm sure I'll enjoy it, and looking forward to being a member of this forum; there's a treasure-trove of information and comradeship here.
