New member here. I'm 44 years old, riding for 30 years and have been through a couple of dozen bikes over the years. This week, I bought my third Harley... a XL1200R, previous Harleys were a Dyna Low Rider and a Road King. I wanted something light, nimble and Harley to do in town and shorter distance stuff. I decided on the Roadster because of the dual front discs, mid controls and blacked out engine. So far I've only managed about 100 miles, but hope to get some riding in over the weekend. I've already got a couple of changes in mind such as taller bars (or risers), stainless brake lines and a firmer seat.
Hopefully the Sporty will never see the dealer. I've already purchased the service manual and have the tools, lifts and equipment to perform most maintenance and minor repair items. I even have a changer for tires. I enjoy wrenching and adding my own accessories and don't mind helping out others occasionally. On other bikes I've done jetting, suspension, valve adjustment and minor electrical work. Other bikes? Long distance and pack mule duties go to a BMW R1200GS and dirt work to a Honda XR650L. I'm going to have a few questions soon about upcoming modifications that the search feature has not answered as of yet, but I'm still looking. Hope to meet some of you soon!
