Did it!!
I'm also from S/E La. and about midway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I haven't taught in the last couple years, but I am a Hunter Education instructor for the area. Hunting and fishing were my favorite pastimes, but just got away from it and sold the boats (many over the years, and some pretty fast), but now I just can't wait to get on the bike whenever I can. After retirement, I had planned on doing some woodworking (just finished my son's kitchen cabinets for his house), but so far I have not found any time for that. The bike and a little traveling has consumed that time.
For those from Texas, I have spent a lot of time in there. Worked for an oil company and had to go there quite often mostly Houston, Dallas and College Station (A&M Fire School instructor for our company). Because of this, we do not have any immediate plans for Texas trips, but I do like traveling that way and in the future we would like to make a BIG trip west on the bike so we will be crossing Texas. After that, we plan to travel north, in the army I was stationed mostly in Ky. (Ft. Knox) and Va. (Ft. Lee) and D.C. is a about as far north as I've been so there are may places left to visit.
As I said retirement is great and just hope I last long enough to complete all of these plans and maybe meet some of you down the road some day.
Again thanks for the welcome they are greatly appreciated.
