I would recommend concentrating on learning the basics of riding with your Rebel. Stick with that untill your entirely comfortable with it. For me I would probably probably recommend working up from that to something in the 500 to 650cc range before considering a Harley.
As for which Harley model to be aiming towards, obviously thats a very personal choice. By all means consider the Sportster models (I have one and love it). However, I would also suggest you consider the Dyna Range of bikes.
I dont know if its urban myth but I've readmore Dyna's are bought by women riders than any other model.
Try sitting on them in the dealers, see what fits. When you've narrowed down your choices a little try a test ride. If possible when you think you've identified the bike for you try to rent one for a day and see how it handles in the type of riding you anticipate doing.

Try different models on for size, see which fits best. Get lots of practice with a bike that won't matter getting dropped, scrapped, dinged, then move up to a big boy.
Enjoy that Rebel. Get real comfortable with it,avoiding trouble having a blast.
I agree with Photo. Go sit on all bikes with salasman holding you up. Look for demo days at local Harley shop. They let you trymany bikes without charge.
