Default Really, Really Noob Question

I just picked up my 1st bike. It's a 1999 Heritage Custom with only 5k on it.

I have 2 questions that I forgot to ask the seller and I don't have the owners manual yet.

1. When fueling up, do you just fill the right side? Can't get the left cap off.

2. What is the proper procedure for checking the oil?

Thanks.

1. The left side should only be a fuel gauge, at least it is on my bike. The right side is the only one that actually opens.
2. For the oil there should be a screw **** under the right side of the seat on the oil pan.

Thanks.

Should it be warm? Cold? Does the bike need to be upright or on the kick stand?

Welcome to HDF....have a good time here....

Upright would be good but not necessary....and you can two different marks on the oil stick...for cold and warm oil......hope it helps!
