I have been lurking and educating myself on the forums for a couple of months - thought I should say hi.
As of 10:30 Saturday Nov. 8 I became the proud new owner of a 2009 Softail Deluxe. I believe I am the worlds most lucky man (in Texas at least). I came home from my daughters volleyball game Saturday with the whole family in the truck and when I popped open the garage door there was a new Deluxe sitting there. My wife arranged for it to be delivered as a surprise. Thanks to Goe Harley Davidson for their incredible support to my wife when she walked in on Friday and wanted it delivered Saturday. She went from knowing what I wanted to getting it delivered and put in the garage while we were out in under 24 hours.
Background - I am 40+ J and began riding dirt bikes at about 8-10 years old. Got my cycle license at 14. Moved away from bikes for many years - priorities, kids, city traffic- some of you know the story. When diesel hit $5.oo a gallon I stumbled onto a very nice little Honda Shadow. Justified it with the savings in fuel. Always wanted a Harley, talked about them for 20 years. Out grew the Shadow but struggled again with priorities. My wife resolved the issue and I am more excited than you can imagine.
I look forward to exchanging thoughts with you all here during what I believe is a never ending journey of making this scoot "my scoot".
