Cheers...I've always wanted a bike ever since I saw The Wild One as a kid but life got in the way. My 16-year-old daughter fully supoports my decision and hopes to be a frequent passenger when she comes down to Florida. As I was told--it's never too late. There's plenty of geezers like me who ride down here.
CHeers to all of you for the welcome. I hope to be able to ride with you once I get my confidence and experience in gear. I plan on riding up to Greenville, SC in a few months to see the girlfriend who got homesick and ran away.

Its about dam time!
Welcome to the forum.
If you want to really enjoy that bike, take a riding class put on by the MSF. THings have changes since you watched the Wild Ones...huge SUVs, Mini Vans, traffic density, cell phones. MSF classes teach techniques on how to be seen, and how to "predict" stipid driver $hit BEFORE it happens.
Promise you'll look into the class- it might save your a$$.
Congrats on pulling the trigger on a HD motorcycle and welcome to the Family!

Congrats on pulling the trigger on a HD motorcycle and welcome to the Family!
taking the MTII basic rider class this weekend from Peterson's HD in Miami and I plan to take follow-up safety classes over the next couple of months. Drivers down here are morons; a favourite tactic is mimicing your every move from from in front of you and they enjoy not allowing you to change lanes by speeding up and closing the distance of the opening. This is from my driving-a-car perspective--must be much worse from a motorcycle; can't see through the SUV windshields or around them when you're pulling out of a space. I'll take New York drivers anyday. I don't plan on ever riding on Die95 or any other highway here, strictly local roads for me...US1, Dixie Highway, A1A,etc...
