I opt-out everywhere I go.
The email address I use here is one that gets used for such things.
My REAL email address...doesn't get used.
I have email addresses I use for different purposes.
For example, I'm working on my master's degree and have an email address that ONLY the college has. It's been ok for over 3 years now with them and NEVER have I received anything on it except from the school.
I have another I give to parents - since I teach in a public school.
Needless to say, I have I can use in places and monitor the usages.
I'll see what happened here. Maybe I missed something and didn't opt-out as I thought I had.
Fortunately, the spams only ATTEMPT to get in. The one thing I noticed was that my server was connected to by a sub domain that doesn't exist. This is a common tactic from spammers.
The HD forums are sharing a hosting service somewhere so any malicious hosts will affect all hosts on that network.
I've been the Admin here for almost 3 years and this is the first time I've gotten this complaint. I've reported it to my bosses for review. You guys can pm me if you continue to have problems.
I dont remember having any spam problems or unwanted pings. Maybe I denied the IP but I dont remember doing it. ANyway, thanks, because you can opt-out of a bunch of tracking cookies:
no spam here.... I'd suggest you check your settings, and NOT subscribe to any threads, or topics/forum... when I first joined, I got a lot of mail... but then I read the forum USER CP a little closer.... most likely that's where your glitch is
edited to add: right here in the new member forum... third "sticky" down... a note from Amanda on how to cut out the spam
This would be my guess as well, no subscriptions was the first thing I did when I set my options up.
