Congratulations to the Family! You have a lot of work to do...customizing. First Harley's are special.
That is a good part of the reason I bought the HD. Back in April 2008, I wanted to get back onto a bike, but one of the local HD dealer's and I couldn't agree on a $$ for a V-Rod - a very pretty, very new, red one. So I ended up buying a used 2004 K1200GT BMW with 33k - nice ride, but somewhat uncomfortable with 2 up. So in Aug 2008, I bought the ULTRA. Glad I had several months and several miles on the Beemer so as to get used to a large (my biggest) m/c yet. Turns out is was best to "relearn " on the BMW instead of a new 800# NEW HD. But the modifying options for the HD are quite extensive, and will exist for several years to come so as to space out the process, both $$ and idea wise.
And YES, it is great riding territory - I experienced some of it today - AWESOME to get back on the road, despite the small amounts of sand and gravel still in spots. THANKS for all of the other welcomes - and great rides for EVERYONE! - stay safe!!!!!!!
The weather has been so awesome here. I have put 2000 miles on mine since the first of December ('08 of course).
If you have not done it yet run 105 from Sadalia to Palmer Lake. Its a fun early season ride. If you plan to to do a run one of these nice days hit me up, if I'm off I might join ya.
Congrats to your new scoot....let's see some pics!
Welcome from Germany.........
As requested, some pics have been posted. Except for a jiffy stand extender, it currently is stone stock - but we'll work on that and keep pics posted as the work progresses (and the $$ hold up). I'll definitely be seeking advice.
