Hey everyone! I have a 2007 XL 1200L I bought a couple months or so ago. It only had 250 miles on it then and now has close to 2500. I put a set of Vance and Hines straight shot slip-ons, forward controls, and some River Road saddlebags on it so far. Other than that it's stock. Oh, I also added a windshield. It's been pretty good to me so far other than the incident a few days ago. I was just cruising along when I heard this noise like something fell off the bike. I glanced in the rear view mirror just in time to see something tumbling in the road behind me. It was my battery cover. That brings me to how I found the forum here. It seems battery covers falling off sportsters is a common problem. It's good to know that it's not just me! Anyway, there are some good ideas here for fixing the problem. I'm surprised that Harley-Davidson hasn't done something to fix the design problem since it's obviously been happening for years.
