SO I want a HD all my life. Been riding a Honda ACE 1100 the last few years, o problems but wanted to buy a hog. I take the plung and order a Black Dyna Superglide. After owning a month my dealership, American Eagle Harley Davidson in Corinth Texas, is having a new bike orientation. My girlfriend an I jump on and head out, enjoying the great riding weather. At 123 miles on the speedo my bike backfires and shut down completely. After stoping I see oil in a big puddle under the bike. THe dealer comes and picks the bike up and find the problem, my crank sensor had melted and I now had plastic in the oil and throughout the motor. Harley corporate approves a new motor to be put in my bike and guarenteed it would be finishe today and ready to ride. Well the motor has not even arrived at the dealership yet. I am not a happy man, 2 weekends of not getting to ride with my friends. Have I made a mistake, is this how Harley treats their new bike owners. It would have been nice if they would have thrown in some gift certificates for the inconvieniance but they sai no, and no loaner bike either.
Man, that sucks. I tihnk that kind of stuff is up to the dealer, and if they're cool, they'd give you a loaner, etc... if you're unhappy with the service, get in touch with HD directly and express your concerns.
You didn't make a mistake buying a Harley. What happened to you is very rare (I've never heard of another case like it.).
Unfortunately, you are the one that is making the bad part of the statistic. Contact HD, just like Clammy said. I think you will find a little more satisfaction in the customer service. Don't give up, you'll be happy in the end.

I'd have to say this is the best advice. What's happened to you is rare but it does happen unfortunately sometimes.
Howdy, welcome aboard. I would be unhappy too if I had the problems that you had and wasn't able to ride with my friends. Things will get better and I suspect that the problem that you had isn't a common problem and you were just unlucky to be the person that it happened to. It will get better.

Sorry to hear about your problem, though I have heard of that crank sensor self destructing before. It appears that not only plastic, but metal from the sensor will also drop in the case. Once the dealer gets the engine, you should have your bike in a day. Good luck, hope your on the road soon!
