Welcom from Texas, and yes the '09 transmission whines in 1st and 5th gear. Both 1st and 5th are straight cut gears instead of beveled, makes them stronger. The noise is there but not bad, I understand a change to a different lubricant in the tranny makes a difference, but I haven't tried that yet. Actually I am kind of getting used to it, it is a great way to tell when you are in 5th as 6th isn't really usable below 55 mph or so.

Thanks for all the welcomes! Are there any other issues with the 09's that I need to be aware of? I know the warrenty will do most things, but I like to work on my own bikes so I won't take it in unless I really need to. I have not really found any info an any real problems with them.
One other question I have since I have not had a newer HD. On the Shovels the loose bolts were a constant problem. How well do the bolts stay tight on the newer ones? Is just a good go over at oil change time enough?
