Howzit Y'all,
While taking a hairpin on the Ortega Hwy. the other day, the handlebars on my Softail broke in half, right smack dab in the middle, at the hole that was drilled to run the control wires through them. Although the install looked really nice and lasted a couple of years, it did try to kill me. Tried damn hard. It's one hell of a rush to be doing 50 on a mountain road trying to steer with half of a bar in each hand. Max excitement though it may be, I recommend against it. Thank all of our Gods for AAA.
Other than still coming down from the adrenaline, here's my problem: The very last thing I need to put back together (a brother gave me some new bars) is my throttle control box. My brain won't wrap around it and I've been sweating bullets trying to put the two halves together and make the grip twist and spring properly. If anyone has a tip or two, or knows where I can find installation instructions or a diagram, you have my eternal gratitude and if you live in SoCal I'll buy you a beer or two.
Ride long and prosper,
