WELCOME FROM NORTH CAROLINA! I was born and raised in IOWA I lived in LISBON for several years while my DAD started the wrestling dynasty their. We then moved to Storm Lake where I graduated from High School. I have been out here in NC since 94. I'm 38 years old. I bought my first Harley this past Feb. I bought a 2006 Road King standard. I have 5400 miles on it so far. I would find a H-D dealer who is offering free demo rides. Thats what I did. I got to ride all of them from the Sportster to the Electra Glide Standard. They are all great bikes but all of them ride a little different. Once you ride them you will know for yourself which one just "feels right". I was amazed at how FAST the V-Rod is.......I took it out on I-40 in Raleigh and it made a beleiver out of me! Take care and good luck!
Hello from Columbia, MO
You'll love it, glad you want to take the course though.
Learning on their bikes is better that hurting your new one plus I'm sure you'll learn lots of great stuff that will help you from hurting yourself.
Cheers
Welcome from Southwest Iowa. I started on a C50T Suzuki Boulevard (800 cc cruiser) this spring after not riding for 25 years. Figured it would be a good "restarter" ride. I liked it, until I test road a Heritage Softail Classic. Traded the Bully on the spot. Even with the heavier weight of the Harley, the balance was so much better that it rode easier than the Bully. Don't be afraid of a "big" bike if it feels right when you test ride it. My "restarter" bike cost me about $2000 that I could have put into chrome if I just would have bought the Harley in the first place. Lovin my Harley and this forum!
Welcome to the forum. Something that may help you in making your decision is when many local Harley dealerships have an open house, they will have demo rides. Take the opportunity to ride each of the models and see what you think. There will also be a lot of current owners around that you can get more detailed answers from to help narrow the choice. Good hunting!
