As for the pipes thang... my guess would be if ya ask 50 riders you'll get at least 6 different "brand" recommendations sayin' "XXXXX" are THE BEST! there is no predicting personal preferrence; however, as i learned in my first wrestling match in high school: "there's no substitute for experience!" that said - i have a 2002 FXD superglide w/ Sreamin' Eagles slip - ons, 35+K miles and still sound/performing well. put a set of samson slip - ons on my `06 FLH from day one, less than 4 years/less than 30K miles and a baffle broke. the 10% off retail they offered on 'new pipe" replacement was border line insulting to me. Got Vance & Hines slip ons on the FLH now and really like the sound/performance, jury is not in on longevity as I only have approx. 300 miles on em but... One suggestion on pipes, if ya go with slip-ons try and find a set that have removable baffles that way if you do have any problems you might be able to weld & if not it'll be cheaper to replace the baffles than the whole pipe(s).
