Yes U can...I would stay under 2'', (1 3/4'' even better) if there straight through to help keep your tq in the low rpms though..
I just reread u post, If Ur wanting to remove them and leave them out depending on muffers, but U'll usually get a lot of decell popping and loose a lot of low end TQ...

You can, but your bike will run lots better with a high flow air cleaner and a stage I ecm download (or PC or similar) Welcome to the forum from Wa state.
Thanks all for the advice, I did remove the baffles yesterday and went for about 100 miles. There was no popping, backfires, or anything. The high flow intake is next as I'm coming due my 5,000 oil change.
