Hi from Minnesota and one new rider to another. I got my Sporty 883 low last weekend and am taking the safe rider course this weekend. Hubby got himself a Softail Deluxe, and everyone is convinced that by next riding season I will be wanting his bike!
People keep telling me I'll want a bigger bike by next year too! My hubby has a Sporty also, so the most he says is that I'll want to do the 1200 conversion. I like my 883, though, and can't really see wanting to trade it in. I'm also the sentimental sort - it's my first bike - I'll want to keep it just "because"! If I know me, I will want to make it faster.
As for bigger, if I want to ride something big, I'll go get on my horse! I'm sure from your user name, you can identify with that too!

My wife went the same route as you 4 years ago. Absolutely loves it but started out on the Metric rides first. Hope to graduate her to my '01 Road King this season.
