It's Finally Time for my First Post
I had ridden a bike once when I was 21. I jumped on a Honda Sumthin' and started down the street. Immediately, a dog (large, of course) took after me. Naturally, I paniced, twisted the throttle and ended up looking at the sky in someone's yard after rearranging several hedges along the way. Even the dog was laughing.
Fast forward 20+ years. My wife wanted a scooter to tool around town for errands. I bought her a Yamaha 125. It was fun! So, of course, I needed one. So, I bought a Honda Silverwing 600cc scooter. Wow! This is REALLY fun! I read all I could find, practiced, took the MSF class and got my license. I rode it daily. I was all happy until...
I stopped in a Harley store. Oh...My. Well, I tried to talk myself into sticking to my scooter - it was fast, simple, comfortable with a ton of storage. Really, really... PRACTICAL. Crap. But I have ALWAYS lusted after a HD. Well, it wouldn't hurt to do a little research. I rode Hondas (cruisers and ST1300), Yammies, BMWs. And, then I rode a RK Classic. Wow. Then a Springer. Nice. Then a Deluxe. That was it. The Harleys were absolutely no comparison to the others and the Deluxe was simply perfect.
I found the color I wanted (Pearl/Cobalt - My DREAM bike), watched as the 07s were introduced and strolled down to the dealer to make a deal on the 06. Got a good deal on the bike and more than I expected on the scooter. I could have waited for an 07, but, well I simply didn't want to and I was very happy with the 06. What a bike! I am honored that she's mine. As much as I enjoy riding, I just enjoy looking at her. I bought her with no intention of selling anytime soon, so buying now worked just fine for me, plus I just loved the color and style of this bike.
I have much to learn and I practice every day (even when it's 105F here in Dallas).
And, I now know how to avoid a big dog!
Thanks for all your help!
Jeff
