Welcome to the forum. I'm new here myself, but thought I'd chime in. I got my Custom last year and have had a blast with her. So I'm biased towards one of those over the WG. That said, the WGs are really cool bikes. Maybe you can draw straws? JK! Here are a few questions to ask yourself that may help make the decision:
Will I be toting a passenger? Which is better for this?
Which do I like better with a touring seat? (if you plan on day trips you'll consider the touring seat at some point. trust me, you're butt will thank you)
Which bike has the broader market for resale? (if/when the time comes)
What can I do with the money saved on the Custom? (if I remember correctly the WGs are a couple grand more...could be wrong.)
Does the $$ difference matter?
Which suits my tastes the most and which one do I see myself on in 5-10 years?
All in all it ends up being your choice. Your bike. Don't let anyone else convince you into something you may regret. Good luck with your decision and let us know which one got the vote.
I over 60 and as far as looks, I think the the WG wins in the area...Has that B#d.A#s. look and with the bars up a little higher I'd think but don't know for sure, it should be a little more comfortable for longer saddle time.
You really can't go wrong with either but in the long run I would pick the WG for myself. I had a Superglide and I really miss it but the Night Train I traded it in for is more suited to my tastes.
Do you like a low slung bike with the rake sticking the front wheel out there a little? If so your tastes run similar to mine. I just can't get the old chopper out of my system and the new WG is right there with a great base to build on.
You can do the same with the Superglide Custom but it'll be less chopper like and more set up for the mountain twisties.
