Another new guy from Texas

Well I can not lie I have messed with my uncle and dad for years making fun of HD's. You see I have been a long time Kawasaki guy since I was say 14 with my first bike being a KX500. My second bike at 17 was a YZF1000R with a big block kit, V and H heads, safety wired, etc etc, moved from that to a ZX11 Turbo and GSXR1k with NOS(lucky to be here). I guess in the last 24 years since my first bike I have owned my share of crotch rockets with my favorite being a TL1000R which was my first twin. In 07 my long time friend and manager of the local Kawa store made me a sweet deal on a Vulcan 1600. I told my dad wow I cant believe it took me so long to buy a cruiser. I loved that bike and owned it longer then any other vehicle. Last year I happened into a VRod and sold the Vulcan. Well as much as I like the VRod I missed my Vulcans upright seating and running boards but really like the workman ship of the VRod. Knowing I couldnt go back to metric I started my search for a Electra Glide, Fatboy or something similar. Found a gentleman that was in his 60's and wanted something lighter. Turns out he traded for it last year from the original owner a 70 year old gentleman that had owned this 1996 FLHT since new w/ 18k original miles. We made the trade and I can honestly say I am impressed. I can not believe how much better this thing shifts, soaks up bumps, and handles better then my Vulcan. I guess i have the sickness now and will be doing a few mods but nothing major. Probably the only thing I will miss is the fuel injection but I can learn to live without it. Gonna lower it an inch, solo seat it, get a smoke windshield then add a nice radio too it and be done with it. Anyways this board looks like it has a wealth of info on it and glad I found it. I cant say I will completely stay away from 1130cc as I wouldnt mind having a Turbo Rod later but looks like plenty of friends on here and there to go around.
