Been reading on here all day, great site for info. Intent on getting a bike. I am a 5'4", 130 lb. female. Don't want to spend a lot of money, won't be going on any long distance trips. No experience other than the dirt bike I grew up on. Will certainly take the training course, and my live-in has been riding for many years. Been checking out the Nightster; feels good in the saddle, seems a good fit, can lean it a bit with no problem; but many forum comments say a rough ride compared to others; also thinking on the Superglide (101 lbs. heavier) and Streetbob (105 lbs. heavier). Seat heights are all similar, know things can be modified, but want to be comfortable and feel like I can park it and manage it pretty well... Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
It depends, if you just want to ride some around town, the Nightster is great. But it does ride a bit rough. I've got a Super Glide, I highly recommend it for longer trips. Welcome from Music City.
Welcome to the forums.
Sounds like you haved looked and tryed the fit on a few bikes. I am sure this will not be the last bike you will ever own. If it fits and is comfort level works for you them this could be your bike for now. Just like dirt bikes every bike is different.
Have you tried the Fat Boy Low?? A bit more weight but sits low and has the floor boards. Just a thought
You mentioned price is an issue, so with that in mind I'd get a used Sportster. People are in real financial trouble right now and are selling their toys cheap. It's a buyers market and you'll save a bunch if you look around.
use craigslist locally where you can go see the bike and hear it run. the local paper is another source, and cycle-trader.com.
