Hi All: new to the forum. Can anyone shed some light on the following. We've (Toronto, Ontario area) have been enjoying(??) 37 C (47C with humidex included) which converts to 98 F - 115 F. I was running fairly hard last weekend, and the speedometer began to jump all over the place, finally shutting down (stayed at zero), and the engine light came on briefly. The signal lights worked, but the auto shut off did not. This is on a 2002 Road King Classic - with 30,000 Km on it.
The beauty of the air-cooled engine. You running synthetic oil? I've been told that it runs 20 to 30 degrees cooler that plain on motoroil.
Good luck...it is supposed to be 101F here in Philadelphia today with a heat index of 114F plus 95% humidity. Nice and toasty, I will be cooking eggs on my sidewalk tonite.
Thanks Legendary: I was running Amsoil synthetic but just changed back to regular 20/50 last week (oil change only - transmission still Amsoil) on the advice of the mechanic - tells me I'll like this oil better!! Could be the issue. We're to have severe thunderstorms today, then cooler (27 C) tomorrow. No complaints here - winter is long and cold.
Strange thing - riding last night - everything works fine.
Hey Piper, welcome to the forums. You'll probably get more notice about your problem in our tech forums so try there for better exposure. Good luck and I hope you'll stick around.
