We picked the Road Glide over the Street Glide, Ultra classic and Limited. It's vivid black with a stock 2010 electra glide classic seat (for passenger comfort). During our test ride we tried three different seats and my wife picked the one she liked. We had also decided the rear suspension would have to be replaced with something that actually worked. The stock windshield is a waste of many kinds.
But all that's okay since we expected to make modifications to get a proper fit and increase the comfort level. We took delivery with new passenger floorboards, adjustable driver backrest, new seat, and a new Windvest 12" windscreen sitting at home. (Thanks to the guys on this forum for the help). We didn't have to change out the air adjustable rear suspension. (Again thanks to the guys on this forum). After asking the dealer to check the air pressure, they found it had zero pounds. Many of you advised this could be the case.
It gets better. I ride the bike off the lot. I get about 17 miles from the dealer and notice after I'm on the highway the clutch goes limp. I check the cable and it's still connected to the lever. I figure it must be broken or it came off at the other end. I was able to get the bike off the highway onto a side street before I put it into neutral, kill the engine and coast to a stop away from the traffic. After calling the dealer they come out to pick up the bike and we all go back the shop. It turned out to be the cable came loose. Great, now I've got a road bike that's been on a trailer as much as it's been ridden.
It was a dealer traded bike and they improperly figured the other dealer made the necessary adjustments. They checked out the bike and turned it back over to me. I rode home without further incidents.
Did I mention we liked the looks of the RG and the way it handled over the other bikes. Our next adventure is just beginning...
