WELCOME! Either way, after buying one, you'll want the other one & eventually you'll want more...That's how I am anyways. I want them all!!! Do some more research & good luck.
So I'm finally making the plunge and I'm going to purchase a Harley. I'm having difficulty deciding if I should go for a 2010 Heritage or a 2008 Road King Classic with about 8K miles. The RK is about $1500 cheaper but it does not come with a warranty.
I'll be doing mostly in town riding with some weekend trips.
Any suggestions?
The six speed trans gearing was changed on touring models in '09 because the '07/'08's
were geared too high. Would not get the RK unless it had the later transmission. IMHO.
i just bought my first brand new car and i am 57. first brand new vehilce ever go for broke and get the new one there is no feeling like pulling off the lot on a new bike. someday i hope to have that feeling. an old biker in rhode island.
I would take the RKC but then I own a 08 RKC. They are both great looking bikes and you would love either one. I think they both have an old school appeal. It may boil down to which color you like better. Unless they are the same. Good luck and let us know what you get.
For me it was the King but only after ridding over 300 miles trying to figure it out. You will know when you are on the right bike. Welcome to the Forum from Indy. It's a great place to hang out when not riding.

Hmmmmm I'm confused..... you've got a $1500 difference between a 2008 RKC, and a 2010 Heritage???
MSRP 2010 RK classic $17,999
MSRP 2010 Heritage $16,999 http://www.harley-davidson.com/
I suggest doing a little more shopping. Unles the 2008 is LOADED to the gills, with everything that gets you pumped...... I'd go new.
The only reason I buy "used" is to avoid the depreciation, and because the previous owner already put on the goodies.
of course this is just MY opinion, and your's will differ
No one can answer this question but you at the end of the day. Sit on both, take both for test rides and take into account the opinions that have been given above. End of the day though the model you choose depends on what you like. I tend to agree with others though, unless the RK has lots of extras, which you would want to keep, I would tend to go for a new bike in whichever model.
